Welcome to the very first Tried it Tuesday link-up!

LSR - Tried it Tuesday

I’m very excited about this weekly linkup on Lake Shore Runner. I have been reading blogs for over a year now and one of the main reasons I read so many is I love learning new things people are trying – whether it be new workouts, recipes, foods, studios, running gear, apparel, beauty products, etc. I hope this linkup allows you to connect with a wide range of bloggers and hopefully takeaway something new you want to try out!

Bloggers: Please join in and linkup your Tried it Tuesday post at the bottom. Let others know about #TIT by spreading the love! Also, if you would like to include the Tried it Tuesday badge on your blog post (which would be awesome if you did!) feel free to do so:

Last but not least make sure you read a few of the other posts within the linkup. You might find something you want to try!

Last Sunday I made my way over to Gold Coast, after having a Bridesmaid Brunch at Jackie’s, to try out Exhale Spa’s newest class Core Fusion Extreme. Don’t think if you do not live in Chicago this post doesn’t pertain to you. Exhale Spa is a national spa with locations all across the country – Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, LA, Miami, Stamford, and Turks and Caicos. They also provide special rates for guest at hotels in these areas!

I was unable to attend the event they had earlier in the week that launched the class because I was traveling, but Exhale was nice enough to allow me to attend another CFX class later in the week.

Core Fusion Extreme

I arrived at Exhale about 20 minutes before the class started because I needed to change. First off, Exhale is not only a studio that offers yoga, pilates, and barre classes but it is also a spa.

Exhale Spa

There facilities are beautiful. I felt like I was in a high end spa with complimentary toiletries, clean bathrooms, chaining rooms, self lock lockers, and much more.

Exhale Spa

Oh and if getting in a good workout or maybe a facial isn’t enough for you…Exhale also has apparel, jewelry, home goods, and body care items in their lobby. I was temped by a lot of the workout gear and jewelry but held off and am putting it on my Christmas list.

As stated on Exhale’s website the premise of the Core Fusion Extreme class is:

Abolish fat, rev your metabolism, and amplify strength as you move through power stations consisting of high intensity work followed by brief moments of active recovery. This hour of power will incorporate gliders, heavy hand weights, a plyo box, suspension training, cardio explosions and intense core work to push you to your fitness maximum. With a balance of restorative stretches at the finish, this functional, time-savvy, expertly tailored class will take you to the extreme. Sneakers required. For safety reasons, guests are not permitted to join class late.

Luckily, I had a good idea of what I was getting myself into because Suzie had tried the workout earlier in the week and informed me of every element of the class at the Chicago Table event.

Core Fusion Extreme

CFX is a 60 minute HIIT class with tabata intervals (40 seconds on 10 seconds off – thanks Suz). There were 5 stations (each person was assigned a number when they checked in) where we completed 2 different workouts. Once we finished the two workouts we would do them again before moving onto the next station.

Each exercise required different equipment – boxes, TRX ropes, medicine ball, dumbbells, and gliders. No one station was the same!  The glider station by far was the hardest. The moves look easy but let me tell you by the end of it everyone was doing girl pushups with them – It didn’t matter how strong you were.

Box Jumps

We went through the 5 station circuit with no breaks and then completed an active rest routine. We then went through the 5 stations again with an active rest routine in between each station. We finished off the class with a 10 minute ab burner circuit! I loved it, I was already drained from the class but this took it to the next level.

I really enjoyed the CFX class at Exhale and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a class that incorporates strength and cardio into one.

I couldn’t leave the spa without taking a picture of this…you know I love my selfies.

Love Your Selfie

The only thing that would have been better was if I took a selfie with the selfie tee. Maybe next time!
