Happy Monday All! I feel like it was just Friday. How does that happen? Well if you read my post on Friday or Saturday you know that I had visitors in town again!
Robbie (Brother), Stef (SIL), and JR arrived Friday afternoon just when I was getting off work. This vacation was just a little different than the last time they were in Chicago (checkout that post here!)….this time we had an extra guest. Stef is due with a baby boy in June!!
And they asked me to be the godmother! I was so so flattered, and am so excited for baby ?? to get here. Every time I look down at my wrist I crack a smile when I see this bracelet. June can’t get here soon enough so I can meet my godson.
The weekend went by in a flash – maybe it is because we did so much. Time for a weekend recap and Weekend Update in photos (my favorite way to share)!
Ninja Turtle cupcakes were made per JR’s request (I will share my technique later)….
….and smashed in JR’s face. Don’t worry JR got Robbie back by giving him a big ole kiss after.
Robbie’s birthday was last week so I got him 7 Layer Bars from his favorite bakery, Molly’s Cupcakes, to celebrate!
JR slept over Friday night! We were up bright and early on Saturday and got straight to coloring.
Then we met up with Robbie and Stef at Whole Food for breakfast, but first we had to take a selfie in the cab.
It just so happened that Chicago Fire was taping right outside Whole Foods. Twice in one week having Chicago Fire sightings – I’ll take it! I even got one of the firefighters to wave at me. #SmallVictories
The rest of the morning we hit Michigan Ave, and we hit it hard. Lego Store, Disney Store, Gap, Nordstroms, and last but not least Dylan’s Candy Bar.
Dylan’s Candy Bar started in NYC, and recently opened a shop in Chicago. They fly the fudge in overnight everyday from NYC. Dylan’s is owned by Ralph Lauren’s daughter whose name just so happens to be Dylan (thanks for the fun fact Stef!).
I thought it was really cool that they had a celebrity wall showcasing celebrities favorite candy, among other things.
After a little nap (I watched the Masters) we all got our second wind and grabbed a late lunch early dinner at Hub51. Kelly and Merrick joined us! Little did Merrick know – JR requested for him to build his new Ninja Turtle lego set. We may or may not have told JR prior to Merrick arriving that Merrick was Michelangelo’s (orange Ninja Turtle) cousin. It got us all out of having to build it!
JR’s new thing is to tell the waiter that it is his birthday. We ended the meal with a HUGE delicious piece of carrot cake. Sooooo happy JR dropped that line!
After dinner we hit the playground. It was clutch that JR had a green sweater on because he stood out among the others. Every other kid was in blue.
Glad JR was in town so I had an excuse to play on the playground too!
We finished the fun filled day off with DQ! Reminded me of when I was younger and my parents would take us to DQ after a sporting event or on a nice Spring/Summer night.
Yesterday I was sad when they all left. JR even started to cry which broke my heart. Luckily I had a long run planned and lots of errands so it took my mind off of it. I can’t wait for them to visit again; we all agreed it should probably just be an adult visit! But I am even more excited for June when I will be going home!
On a completely different note – my half marathon is less than two weeks away. I wish I could say I was ready for it but I am starting to feel the aches and pains I normally feel when in training mode.
I have made an active effort of stretching, foam rolling, and icing so I not only can get to the starting line feeling good but I can keep up with my training after the race.
Yesterday afternoon while watching the Masters I completed this 25 minute yoga video geared towards runners.
I hope to do it 2 to 3 times a week before my run on the 25th!
