Happy Monday Tuesday! Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I had planned to post but when 8 p.m. rolled around Sunday night I couldn’t keep my eyes open so bed was much more on the mind then writing a post. Sorry. So let’s start where I would have started yesterday….First and foremost Happy Father’s Day to the most loving and caring man who I am lucky enough to call Dad!
I can’t wait for my dad to come and visit in August when the Tiger’s play the Cubs at Wrigley. Yes I gave my dad a father’s day present that required him to come visit me. What can I say I am selfish.
Next exciting piece of news I have to share with you….
The East Coast’s hottest “underground” cardio party is hitting Chi-Town for ONE WEEK ONLY (May 9th-14th). ((305)) which merges fitness with nightlife is a dance cardio workout with a LIVE DJ. Each 55-minute class infuses dance moves, sports drills and high intensity interval training (HIIT) for a full-body workout (800+ calories).
Sadie: I was out at a nightclub, on a Spring Break trip in college with my best friend. We had been talking about how much we dreaded working out. But that night, as we looked around the dance floor, soaked in sweat from dancing so much, the sounds the DJ pumping through our veins, we had this eureka moment. Why couldn’t we bring this energy to our workouts? So the idea was born!
Me: What would you say to someone who is not a dancer and is intimidated by the dance component of class? (i.e me!)
Sadie: First, it’s not “dance” as you imagine dance. Nobody is in a tutu. Nobody is going to yell at you for not getting the sequence right. We don’t even stop to break down choreography, because it is truly so simple that all you need to do is watch the instructor and mimic him or her. Secondly, I would say, when you try to pick up a move, try to follow the feet first and then add the arms. Finally, before class, get your rhythm going. On your walk to the studio, try to match your pace with the beat of the music in your headphones. Some of us need more practice than others in hearing the rhythm, but it’s within all of us!
Me: What makes the 305 workout unique?
Sadie: It’s the only workout where people sweat their faces off AND still have an amazingly good time. You’re smiling from ear to ear, even if it’s super challenging at times.
Me: What should someone where to class?
Sadie: Anyhing you’d wear to the gym: leggings, a sports bra for ladies, a comfortable tank or tee, and sneakers that will support your joints for high-impact.
Me: Any chance you will be opening in new cities soon?
Sadie: Would LOVE to! Our classes in New York and Washington, D.C. are in such uber-high demand. The response has been tremendous. So I do hope we can get to other cities soon!
Me: Is every class different or is their a standard structure to every class?
Sadie: Every class is different because just like a real party, we’re going off the songs of the DJ and the vibes of the room.
Me: Why does the 305 workout work?
Sadie: Absolutely everything! I’ve heard people tell me they are sore in their core, back, glutes, hamstrings, shoulders, biceps, everything! The most common ones I hear are core, calves, and quads. This workout is totally full-body.
Me: What type of person do you think will enjoy the 305 workout most?
This is a hard question, because we really do get such a beautiful diversity of people. We have men, moms, young professionals, students, the whole gamut! It’s not about your age, gender, weight, or skin color. The person who will enjoy 305 the most is the person who loves to have fun. It can be an introvert or an extrovert but it’s for that person who doesn’t take themselves or life too seriously.
Me: Who/What is your fitness inspiration/motivation?
Sadie: Our ((305)) Junkies! Some of them started with absolutely NO fitness experience and today, are taking 4-5 classes/week. It’s truly inspiring to see the transformation they’ve undergone by committing themselves to something both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
Thank you Sadie for taking the time to answer these questions! And thank you for making me feel like an NBA dancer for 55 minutes.
What have you tried lately?
Woooo that was a long one. Ok go buy your tickets now so we can dance the night away at the Windy City Smokeout (Promo Code: LSRWCS).
